Royalmount’s Honeybees
helping fight the disappearance of honeybees by fostering a healthy bee population
Royalmount is helping fight the disappearance of honeybees by fostering a healthy bee population that will remain on site, year after year. We installed eight beehives on site along with a “flower mountain” containing a variety of nectariferous flowers for the bees to feast upon. We also organized a free public workshop to allow the community to become familiar with the Royalmount project and learn about urban beekeeping. This year our 400,000 bees produced close to 200 pounds of local, unpasteurized, urban honey!
Free Public Workshop
Since education is one of the values of the Royalmount project, a free educational workshop was organized to give the community access to the site and help them become more familiar with urban beekeeping.
Urban Honey
The first harvest raised nearly 200 pounds of local honey and produced the first Royalmount honey!
